The Mississippi Society of Georgia gathered for a social at Smokebelly BBQ in Buckhead on Tuesday, February 28th. Since most of Georgia does not do Fat Tuesday, it was a perfect time to gather with fellow alumni and other Mississippi friends to show 'em how it's done. We welcomed out of town guests in representatives from William Carey who explained how devastating the recent tornado had been to their campus. The event raised $1000.00 which was immediately presented to William Carey to assist their students with expenses resulting from the tornado. Check out more pictures from the event under the Photos section. This is an annual event so make plans to join us next year!

Due to some scheduling changes, the new date is set for the 2017 Mississippi in the Park at Chastain Park on . 2017 is the bi-centennial for Mississippi's statehood and we plan to honor this. At this time we simply do not have the manpower and do not anticipate hosting a golf tournament. We are planning to have Mississippi Night at the new Atlanta Braves stadium on . See more information in the Events section as we continue our planning. Stay tuned as we will be announcing a new hotel partner and other event details! If you would like to get involved with the planning committee, please email us at email@example.com.
On Monday, May 4, 2015, representatives from the Mississippi Society of Georgia met with Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant and presented a check for $12,000 representing the funds raised from Mississippi Weekend 2014. We are proud to be the only Mississippi Picnic group that sends funds directly back to the state of Mississippi in the form of scholarships. Your participation in the golf tournament and purchasing prize pack tickets contribute directly to this total. Let's make the 2015 check even bigger!
