Thank you for another successful Mississippi weekend! While the Braves did not get the win on Friday evening, they did give you your money's worth in a 14-inning game followed by fireworks! The picnic was a lot of fun and smiles as old connections were renewed and new connections were made. We cannot say enough thanks to The Shufflejunkies for always providing just the right flavor and mix of entertainment. There are quite a few of the shirts left and we will work on getting those available for shipping from our online store. If you missed it this year, be ready for June of next year! (And the Fat Tuesday Social!) Next year will be our big 10th picnic! It has long been a goal for the picnic to be self-sustaining (meaning that shirt and fish plate sales cover the cost of the event without having to add donor dollars) by the 10th year. You can help make that happen by helping us get the word out! Be sure to like and share our Facebook page. If our attendance and catfish plate sales were up around 500 people, we would easily reach our goal and be able to direct all sponsor money into the scholarship funds and raise our award amounts. Congratulations to our Scholarship Prize Basket winners! Currently the scholarship drawing ticket sales all go to the scholarship fund and we are happy to announce that it was fully funded by sales this year to support next year's award. If you took any pictures or videos at the event that you are willing to share on this site, please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Welcome to the Mississippi Society of Georgia
The Mississippi Society of Georgia is pleased to announce that we are entering our 8th year of awarding a scholarship. This award is a $1,000 scholarship for a 2018 Georgia high school graduate beginning their freshman year at a Mississippi school. Congratulations to Kaitlin Wingard of Forsyth Central High School in Cumming. We wish her well at Mississippi State this fall. A few of us gathered for a Spring Social @ Taco Mac Lindbergh on March 20th. Our beneficiary for the evening was Atlanta Community Food Bank. Canned goods and $75 was given for the cause. Congratulations to our door prize winners!

On Monday, May 4, 2015, representatives from the Mississippi Society of Georgia met with Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant and presented a check for $12,000 representing the funds raised from Mississippi Weekend 2014. We are proud to be the only Mississippi Picnic group that sends funds directly back to the state of Mississippi in the form of scholarships. Your participation in the golf tournament and purchasing prize pack tickets contribute directly to this total. Let's make the 2015 check even bigger!
