We start out on Friday, June 22nd, with the Mississippi Night @ Atlanta Braves.
Come out to SunTrust Park as the Atlanta Braves take on the Baltimore Orioles. Stay late as it is also a Friday night fireworks game! Tickets purchased through this site will be electronic tickets that are emailed out. Each seat purchased from this site will include a Braves spinner and Mississippi Society of Georgia backpack to be distributed at the game.
Saturday, we will be headed back to Chastain Park in Buckhead from 10:30am to 3:00pm for the main event picnic. 145 W Wieuca Road Northwest, Atlanta, GA 30342
Catfish/chicken plates at the picnic will again be brought in and cooked up by Penn's. The plates include catfish, chicken, fried pickles, coleslaw, baked beans, fries, corn nuggets & hushpuppies! All of your favorites are back with free treats at the picnic! McAlister's is going to be back handing out their delicious cookies and sweet tea. Sugaree's is shipping in a little slice of Mississippi with their famous Caramel cakes from New Albany, Mississippi! Your sweet tooth will be satisfied!
Make a donation and get an entry into the scholarship basket prize drawings. Each $5 donation gets an entry and a $20 donation gets 5 entries. You could win an iPad! Other prizes will be announced soon.
This year's entertainment will include some familiar faces as we welcome back The Shufflejunkies with some other surprise guest appearances. There will be a little something for everybody! This is a rain or shine event.
Thanks to our school alumni associations, admission to the picnic is free. Many do not realize that we spend thousands in permit fees and bringing in authentic Mississippi food, entertainment, and goodies. We do this without any major corporate sponsorship. If you would like to become a sponsor and keep the picnic/weekend and scholarship going, please check out the Donate page. We also are looking for more volunteers to help in the planning of the event. If you would like to get involved, please email us at email@example.com. If are willing to give us a couple of hours on the day of the event, we still have some volunteer spots left to fill and you can dign up on our volunteer page.
Mississippi Today will be coming to town and hosting a booth at the picnic. They are planning a Mississippi expatriate dinner for later that evening. More details coming soon.
