2022 Picnic Cancelled

The Mississippi Society of Georgia appreciates the support from all of our family and friends from Mississippi. We appreciate our partnership with the Mississippi schools and universities. We could not have hosted 10 great Mississippi in the Park-Atlanta picnics without you. Unfortunately, we are postponing this year’s annual Mississippi In the Park event. The rising costs to host the event has made us re-evaluate when and how we run the event. Coronavirus as well as available funds are just not conducive to holding an event this year. Other virtual events and in person events (when appropriate) may be announced later this year. We hope to return the picnic in 2023 if funds become available.

This does not mean the end of the Mississippi Society of Georgia. We will continue to host socials, and we will continue to award our annual scholarship. The Facebook page/group as well as this website will continue to be your main source for information about future events. Watch for an email coming soon that will allow you to contribute your thoughts in a survey of how we move forward. If you do not receive our emails, please use the Sign Up link at the bottom of this page.

Mississippi Thanks day @ McAlister's Roswell

Sunday, November 17, 2019, the society held a "thanks day" at McAlister's in Roswell. This location has been supplying the sweet tea, cookies, and smiling faces to serve them at all of our picnics. This was just a chance to stop by, have a bite to eat, and thank one of our long-time picnic partners. Be sure to visit them (or any other location) any time and tell them thanks for supporting Mississippi in the Park!

What a Weekend!

The event was held Saturday, June 15, 2019 @ Chastain Park from 10:30am to 3:00pm. Penn's provided a great lunch of catfish/chicken plates as usual all the way from MS. Society Presents Check to Governor Bryant

On Monday, May 4, 2015, representatives from the Mississippi Society of Georgia met with Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant and presented a check for $12,000 representing the funds raised from Mississippi Weekend 2014. We are proud to be the only Mississippi Picnic group that sends funds directly back to the state of Mississippi in the form of scholarships. Your participation in the golf tournament and purchasing prize pack tickets contribute directly to this total. Let's make the 2015 check even bigger!
